Hydrogen Labor and Skills Assessment Welcome to the Hydrogen Labor and Skills Assessment SurveyThe Department of Energy (DOE) has funded a team of universities, community colleges, and research organizations to establish workforce development, training, and certification programs that will provide the skilled workers needed for the expanding hydrogen economy in northern Ohio and southern Michigan (DOE Award Number: DE‐EE0010706).The University of Toledo is leading this effort with team partners Case Western Reserve University, Cuyahoga Community College, Lorain County Community College, Northwest State Community College, the Ohio Aerospace Institute, Owens Community College, and the Workforce Intelligence Network. This effort is not directly affiliated with the two DOE-funded hydrogen hubs in the region. The project team is collaborating with several groups across the country to implement best practices as we develop the new workforce training programs. We are working to identify workforce needs and current gaps in technician, skilled tradesmen, and scientist and engineer training, and to devise programs to train future employees in the technologies and skills needed to safely build and maintain infrastructure for a hydrogen economy. This survey seeks input from employers and industry stakeholders on the skills, roles, and training formats most critical for building a strong hydrogen workforce. Your responses will help inform curriculum development and training for the next generation of hydrogen workforce talent.By sharing your insights, you will directly inform workforce development strategies and guide the creation of training pathways across Ohio and Michigan. Together, we can build a pipeline of qualified workers ready to support the region’s hydrogen economy. Before beginning, we would like to clarify two terms used throughout the survey Reskilling: Learning new skills to move into a different job or role. Upskilling: Building additional skills to grow in your current job or role. You are invited to take part in this survey. Participation is completely voluntary. By continuing, you confirm that you understand the purpose of the survey and agree to participate voluntarily. This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and should be completed in one sitting.
