The Oklahoma College Access Network (OK-CAN) is designed to serve as a centralized hub for college access initiatives in our state. OK-CAN will strategically focus on identifying service gaps and sustaining community-based outreach programs and services to close those gaps for low-income, first generation college-going families in Oklahoma.

Community-based College Access Program. Typically, these organizations provide core services such as admissions and financial aid advising, career guidance and mentoring, campus visits, test preparation programs and/or ‘last dollar’ grants to local school districts.

College Planning Resource Center. Typically, these organizations offer printed materials about planning, preparing and paying for college and work with students, adult learners and families who are looking for information about educational options after high school.

College Access Institutional Partnership. Typically, these programs are operated by a host higher education campus and deliver traditional hands-on services such as academic, enrollment and financial aid advising for students and parents in concert with local K-12 schools and college access practitioners.

Student Success Program. Typically, these programs offer auxiliary support services for students and families that encourage college-readiness, such as mentoring, tutoring, personal finance education, character development, communication skill-building and self-care.

College Access Support Organization. Typically, these entities support efforts to eliminate barriers to college readiness and access, and seek opportunities to align with other agencies and programs that share that mission. The primary goal of affiliation for these organizations is to expand the reach and scope of their services, materials and resources.
