AAN NAM Fellowship Self-Nomination Instructions

Candidates interested in the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) Fellowship program at the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) can complete this self-nomination for consideration by the AAN Board of Directors. Please review the eligibility criteria below. This form and the required nomination packet materials must be submitted by 5:00 PM ET on April 18, 2022. Candidate(s) recommended by the AAN Board of Directors to move forward in the nomination process will be provided with a nomination letter to complete the candidate's nomination packet requirements, along with the materials outlined below.

Selection Criteria
Nominees will be evaluated by an NAM-appointed committee based on their professional qualifications, scholarship, and quality of professional accomplishments as evidenced through publications and research grants, and relevance of current field of expertise to the work of the NAM.

Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated interest in policy and scholarship related to health equity.

2022 Timeline

March 1 - Call for nominations open

April 18 - Self-Nomination forms are due to AAN

June 1 - Nomination packets are due to NAM

September 7 - 9 - Fellow orientation week at the NAM is held

October 17 - Fellow is introduced to the Membership at the NAM Annual Meeting

Hold a doctoral degree

Be four-to-ten years out from completion of post-graduate work

Be a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN)

Be able to dedicate 10 to 20 percent of time to the fellowship for two years

Have endorsement by their department chair, institute director, or equivalent

Hold U.S. citizen or permanent resident status at the time of the nomination
