Marijuana Business Daily, the most trusted trade publisher serving serious business minded entrepreneurs and investors in America's $6 billion and growing cannabis industry, is seeking an in-house digital graphic designer to join our marketing team. Founded in 2011, Marijuana Business Daily publishes exclusive daily news, a monthly print magazine and annual data-based research reports. The company also produces three annual trade shows: MJBizConNEXT in New Orleans in May, MJBizConINTL in Toronto in August and MJBizCon in Las Vegas in November.

The perfect person for this position values talented and impactful b2b design with a creative flair.  We want you to be collaborative and willing to challenge the status quo while also being able to work with other departments and creative needs.  You will take a critical role in continued development of the company’s ad campaigns both online and in print, visual design of our online marketing communications and web properties, development of creative for our trade shows and direct mail efforts, as well as some support of our business resource books, online news properties, and print magazines.

Day to Day Job Duties:
  • Visual design and creative development for web and online advertising.
  • Assist and/or lead the design of MJBiz direct mail, email templates, and other outbound marketing or promotional elements. 
  • Design support of print and digital collateral for marketing functions related to special reports, business books and the magazine as time allows. This helps ensure brand continuity across all editorial platforms.
  • Assist and/or lead the design of signage, booths, and brand elements for MJBizCON, INT’L, and NEXT properties.
  • Support any design needs requested by Marketing for magazine house ads, brand elements or layout support.
  • Help with other design-related tasks across the company.
Experience needed:
  • Minimum 3 years design experience in a marketing and/or advertising function with a heightened emphasis on digital, design Degree preferred
  • Experience designing business-related/B2B content
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Indesign, Photoshop & Illustrator)
  • Digital expertise with web design (basic knowledge of UX/UI), social, display and responsive HTML banner ads, mobile app ads, and email marketing graphics.
  • Experience creating marketing materials such as print ads, direct mail, brochures, flyers, PowerPoint design, some editorial design
  • Experience creating illustrations
  • Familiar with WordPress templates, HTML5/CSS
  • Experience working in Workamajig a plus
  • Experience with mobile app design and motion design is not required but always a plus.
  • Experience creating event materials such as trade show booths and signage a plus.
Required skills:
  • Ability to paginate ads and create graphics with data, images, and photos
  • Solid understanding of fundamental marketing, advertising, and editorial design principles in digital, online, and print formats
  • Comfortable working at all levels of design (i.e. okay with doing production work and creative conceptualization)
  • Able to design within existing brand guidelines
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously across several MJBiz sub-brands
  • Ability to work independently, helping to manage project workflow and timelines
