The District of Kitimat has embarked on a planning process to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for Strawberry Meadows, study area shown below. The Strawberry Meadows neighbourhood is approximately 232 hectares (573 acres) and is located in the southern portion of Kitimat’s original Townsite. The purpose of the Neighbourhood Plan is to provide more certainty of what is envisioned for the area and outline how the neighbourhood should grow and change over time. The plans can also provide guidelines for how future development of private and public space will look and function by not only addressing land use and urban design issues, but often providing details on the future pedestrian and transportation network, parks and open spaces, community facilities as well as identifying topics and issues that are important to the people who live, work, and visit the area.

To inform the Neighbourhood Plan, the District has prepared a community survey to provide an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to share their initial input for the future of Strawberry Meadows and how they would like to be engaged throughout the planning process.
