Requirements and Qualifications

The County Board of Education announced its intent to appoint its Representative to the Personnel Commission at the October 21, 2020 Board Meeting.  Members of the public may apply for this role by completing this form and submitting it no later than 4:00pm on November 18, 2020.

An applicant must be a registered voter, reside in San Mateo County and be a “known adherent to the principle of the merit system,” which means “a person who by the nature of his or her prior public or private service has given evidence that he or she supports the concept of employment, continuance in employment, in-service promotional opportunities, and other related matters on the basis of merit and fitness.” (California Education Code section 45244(c).)

Currently, the Personnel Commission meets virtually at 2:30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.  Once In-Person meetings resume, they will be held at San Mateo County Office of Education, located at 101 Twin Dolphin Drive in Redwood City.  Information provided on this application is public information and may be made available to other applicants, members of the press, or the general public.
