Storage Facility Provider, Business Owner/Operator Input for RV and Trailer Parking and Storage Study |
This survey is meant to collect input on the demands and challenges of RV and trailer parking from those who offer the storage of such on their property (private or commercial), in either indoor or outdoor facilities. The information from the survey responses will be used to inform policy options for the Municipality. The survey is also intended to assist in identifying land use designations and zoned areas where RV and trailer parking and storage may be appropriate.
How are RVs and trailers currently regulated?
The parking or storage of more than three RVs or trailers on private property is currently not permitted in the rural areas of the Municipality, except by site-specific amendment to the Zoning By-law. In urban residential zones, the parking or storage of more than one RV or trailer on private property is currently not permitted. Outdoor recreational vehicle storage is a permitted use in the General Industrial (M2) Zone and certain exception zones.
For the purposes of this study, an RV is defined as: A motorized or non-motorized vehicle that is used predominantly for recreational purposes, including, but not limited to, mobile recreational trailers, snowmobiles, boats, personal watercraft and all-terrain vehicles.
For the purposes of this study, a trailer is defined as: Any vehicle that is designed to be drawn upon a highway by a motor vehicle, except an implement of husbandry, another motor vehicle or any device or apparatus not designed to transport persons or property temporarily drawn, propelled or moved upon such highway. A trailer shall be considered a separate vehicle and not part of the motor vehicle by which it is drawn, and does not include a mobile home.
