Peer Learning Session: Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Volunteer Managers
Wednesday 19th March 2025, 10.30-12.30, on Zoom
.
Over the past year, the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a major theme for national discussion and debate, including within the voluntary sector. Many volunteer management tasks are administrative, and the use of AI can free up valuable time, enabling you to spend more time with volunteers, as well as improving recruitment, retention and increasing the impact of your volunteer programme. Whether you are already using some forms of AI, or are completely new to it, this practical and interactive online session is for you.
We will hear from Paul Firby, Tech Development Advisor at Superhighways, an organisation that specialises in supporting charities and community groups to make the best use of technology for social impact. Paul will talk about how a range of AI tools could be used to recruit and manage volunteers, as well as potential risks that should be considered and mitigated.
You will also discuss with other local Volunteer Managers how AI can be used within volunteer programmes, sharing what is already being used, what other tools could be used and for what purpose, as well how to mitigate potential risks.
There will also be a practical element, during which you will practice using AI tools, such as ChatGPT, for volunteer management tasks.
.
This session is suitable for experienced Volunteer Managers as well as those who are new to managing volunteers.
Priority will be given to voluntary sector organisations with a base/office in Tower Hamlets, or that have services aimed at Tower Hamlets residents.
