Ken Fleet Choral Conducting Scholarship

About the Scholarship
London Pro Musica Choir established the Ken Fleet Choral Conducting Scholarship Fund with the intent to reflect Ken Fleet’s passion for the education and development of Canadian choral conductors and to represent Ken’s steadfast dedication to the London Choral Community. A call for applications will be issued to music students majoring in Choral Conducting and choir conductors seeking professional development. 

Application Dates
London Community Foundation will accept applications starting December 1, 2019 until March 1, 2020.

About Ken Fleet
Ken was London Pro Musica Choir’s well-respected conductor for 23 years and taught at Medway High School in Arva, Ontario, where his choral program won the CBC Choral Competition. He also taught at Western, conducting the UWO singers, and co-conducted the Amabile Mens’ and Boys’ Choirs in London with fellow Western graduate Carol Beynon, winning three CBC National Radio Competition awards.

Scholarship Presentation
In 2020, the scholarship will award $2,000 to an individual currently studying choral conducting or planning to continue their studies in this field. London Pro Musica Choir, in partnership with London Community Foundation, will present the Ken Fleet Choral Conducting Scholarship award at an upcoming Pro Musica concert.

Online applications must be submitted by March 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

ONLY Applications submitted through the online portal will be accepted.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
o be an Ontario resident,
o have formal music education,
o use the scholarship for professional development workshops or courses in choral conducting.

Selection Process
An Awards Committee of five to seven members from London Pro Musica Choir, Amabile Choirs of London, Medway High School and London Community Foundation will review all applications. All applicants, including the recipient, will be notified of the result by mid-April.
