Learning Objective:
1) To describe the medical, ethical and psychodynamic aspects that influence shared decision making with parents and providers for children with complex chronic conditions.
2) To identify communication strategies that facilitate conversations between parents and providers when sharing difficult treatment decisions for children with the highest medical complexity, medical fragility and prognostic uncertainties.
3) To facilitate shared decision making for children with complex chronic conditions when evidence is lacking and outcomes are uncertain.
4) To develop goal-directed care plans with parents and healthcare providers for children with complex chronic conditions.
