Information about PERL and the application process

The New Zealand Rural General Practice Network has entered into a contract with the Ministry of Health to provide additional support to rural general practices with smaller teams that have been impacted by Covid-19. 

While all applications will be assessed on a case by case basis, the support will predominantly be in the form of funding for a locum doctor, nurse practitioner, or other staff member for about 2 weeks. It can also include the costs of their accommodation and travel. 

Priority will go to smaller rural practices with 2 or less doctors or nurse practitioners. Practices that have been significantly impacted by Covid-19, or those that are having staffing difficulties linked to an ongoing challenge in recruiting medical staff will also be considered. 

As this is not an unlimited resource and to ensure it is allocated fairly, we will need information from you to assist us in prioritising applications and allocating the funding. Please complete this application form to let us know about your practice and what you need. 

All applications will be reviewed by our NZLocums team and an Application Assessment Panel. 

If it is accepted, your Relationship Manager will work with you to make the necessary arrangements.
