ASHA seeks your feedback to help further inform and drive our advocacy on members’ behalf.

ASHA advocates on your behalf with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other stakeholders—such as industry leaders in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and home health agencies (HHAs). Your stories will help us understand changes happening in your practice area. ASHA staff will aggregate the information and keep any personal or potentially identifying information private.

Policy changes under the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) in SNFs and the Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) in HHAs require adjustments in the way speech-language pathologists (SLPs) demonstrate value for their services. However, some business reactions to implementing these policies are creating challenges for members’ employment and their ability to use their clinical judgment on behalf of their patients.

While understanding the impact of these transitions on clinicians employed in these settings is important, understanding your patients’ experiences will help us craft the most impactful responses to CMS and industry leaders. Please share your experiences to help inform ASHA’s advocacy. This information will remain confidential unless you indicate a willingness to engage in more in-depth advocacy such as participating in media interviews. In a confidential manner we will share the aggregated data/results with policymakers.
