* 1. Becoming an Official Candidate:

A student must be declared an "official candidate" by the Student Life Advisor in order to run for office.

A student must meet all requirements for candidacy outlined in the Constitution of The Broward College Student Government.

* 2. Campaigning:  (April 1-April 9)

All candidates must be a student of Broward College and take the majority of their classes at the campus they are running for. In the event of a split in the class load, the Student may not run for office at any other campus, and may not hold office in any other organization.

There shall be no collaboration while campaigning of any type among candidates seeking the office.

Interference, defacing or removal of the material of any candidate will result in expulsion from the race.

Confrontation between candidates will result in expulsion from the race.

* 3. Each candidate will have a $200 limit (of personal expenses) on campaign expenditures

These limits apply to each individual candidate. All solicitation, donation of goods or commercial services shall be included in this limit at fair market value. Over-expenditure will result in the expulsion of the candidate(s) from the race.

All receipts and a statement of expenditure must be turned in to the Student Life Advisor via email.

* 4. Elections Complaints:
(Voting will take place April 10-13, 2023) 

Complaints may be levied only by candidates. These complaints or concerns shall be submitted to the SG Advisor.

If the grievances are severe enough the SG Advisor, may declare the election void and call for a new vote. If there is a call for a new vote, they will present their rationale to the student body in the school paper, mail, email, or pamphlets distributed to the Student Body at least 2 days before new elections are to take place. The new elections must take place no later than 7 school days after the previous election.

* 14. Must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours per term. Credit requirements shall be waived for members in their last semester of classes.

(No more than fifty (50) credits excluding preparatory classes if working on first A.A./A.S. degree and no more than 110 credits if working towards second A.A./A.S or B.A./B.S. to run for and hold office.)

Service scholarship shall be awarded to each Officer at the end of the Fall and Spring semester for successful completion of duties.

When each candidate turns in an Elections packet, he\she is making a commitment to uphold the highest standards of honesty, responsibility, and integrity in the election process and for the entire term of office. Each candidate should be aware of the responsibility of his or her position as outlined in the Student Government Constitution and be prepared to carry it out appropriately.

Any defacing of campaign materials, slanderous campaigning, or signs of foul play will be reviewed by the Student Life Director and may result in expulsion from the election.
