Introduction to the survey

Red-sided garter snake was assessed by the NWT Species at Risk Committee in April 2024. The Committee recommended the species be listed as Special Concern in the Northwest Territories (NWT).

‘Special Concern’ means the red-sided garter snake could become Threatened or Endangered because of a combination of biological characteristics and identified threats.

The objective of this survey is to gather public feedback on the proposed listing of red-sided garter snake as a species of Special Concern in the NWT.

Comments are due by November 1, 2024.
