Introduction
This is the examination for the Operator, Tunnels and Tubes classification.
The Operator, Tunnels and Tubes examination is being given on an open, non-promotional, continuous basis. This examination consists of an online Training and Experience evaluation and an STD678 State Application.
The STD.678 is required to be uploaded prior to proceeding with the Supplemental Application Questionnaire. The STD.678 must be in a PDF format to be uploaded. Click here for the link to the (STD.678) form if you do not already have one available to submit.
Training and Experience Evaluation
This questionnaire is your entire exam and is designed to elicit a range of specific information regarding each candidate's knowledge, abilities, and experience to effectively perform the duties relative to the classification. Candidates are responsible for reading all of the material provided prior to completing the questionnaire. Responses will be evaluated using predetermined rating criteria. In order to obtain a position on the eligible list, a minimum rating of 70% must be attained. Please answer questions completely since incomplete responses and omitted information cannot be considered and/or assumed. Resumes, letters of references, and other materials will not be evaluated or considered as responses to items in the Training and Experience Evaluation.
(NOTE: Failure to meet the entrance requirements and/or to complete this evaluation accurately will result in elimination from this examination.)
Candidates who fail to follow the instructions and/or who solicit input or assistance from others to complete this questionnaire will be eliminated from the examination.
The Training and Experience evaluation consists of 9 Training & Experience statements. This Training and Experience Evaluation is scored, and accounts for 100% of your overall score in this examination. It is important to complete the questionnaire carefully and accurately.
The examination answers can be saved for completion at a later time. You must push the 'NEXT' button on the bottom of the current page to save any completed work. On the final page of the examination there will be a 'CONFIRM RESULTS' button. Once you hit 'CONFIRM RESULTS' you will be submitting your examination as completed and will not be able to go back to your examination at a later time.
Examinations are processed on a monthly basis. The final monthly submission date is on the last day of each month by 11:59 pm. Pacific Standard Time (PST). The Training and Experience evaluation and the STD678 both must be completed and submitted by the time and date mentioned above to be processed. To submit any work completed hit the 'CONFIRM RESULTS' button before the monthly submission date or your examination will not be considered until the next month.
Candidates will be notified of their scores approximately 4-6 weeks after cut-off date.
