Strategic Plan: What's next?

This is the first step to  gather input for the development of the 2022-2025 Ontario Sailing Strategic Plan.  In addition to the survey we will conduct personal interviews and focus groups to  inform the plan. Based on all of the input, proposed strategic objectives will be presented, for further discussion, to a wide wide range of stakeholders, at a planning session in Fall 2021.

The mission of Ontario Sailing is to develop lifelong sailors.  The following few questions relate to the delivery of this mission.

* 2. Our role in the national sport system is to ensure Ontario is represented nationally, while also disseminating information and resources across the province.

This work includes: Partnering with like organizations, infrastructure and systems development, and government relations. 

How important is this work as part of the next strategic plan?

* 3. Ontario Sailing provides support to all member organizations across the province to ensure safe, high quality operations contributing to the overall perception of sailing in Ontario. 

This work includes the COAST program (club operations and governance support); and other supports and resources for development of all member organizations and promotion of sailing through social media and Boat Show booth.

 How important is this work as part of the next strategic plan?

* 4. Ontario Sailing ensures that athletes who aspire to make the national team are coached and mentored at the level they require.

Athlete development work includes provincial teams, sanctioning and talent identification.

* 5. Ontario Sailing provides services to ensure that sailing programs have high quality, qualified leadership.  These services include training courses for sailing instructors and sailing coaches as well as for sailing race officials (Race Officers and Judges, for example).

Ontario Sailing delivers their mission through a focus on high quality, qualified leadership, engagement with members, helping clubs grow and the development of athletes. 

This work requires a community of collaboration and a high degree of two-way communication.
