Your local Oregon Department of Human Services - Child Welfare staff is accessible to provide child abuse reporting training to both mandatory and voluntary reporters. The 90-minute training provides topics related to reporting responsibilities.  By the end of the training participants will be able to:
  • Understand mandatory reporting requirements
  • Ability to recognize and respond to signs of child abuse
  • Understand when to contact a caseworker vs. the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline
  • Increase awareness of practice related to parental substance use
  • Understand when spanking may be physical abuse vs. reasonable discipline
  • Recognize barriers to reporting suspected child abuse
  • Know how to make a report
