General Information

The PPC nutrition traineeship is available to one graduate level nutrition student each year. The trainee participates in a variety of classroom and clinical experiences within the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine located at Children's of Alabama.

Long-term trainees receive tuition assistance, a monthly stipend, and travel assistance to a national conference. The traineeship is offered through the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration. UAB is fortunate to have one of the six Pediatric Pulmonary Centers (PPCs) funded nationally by MCHB.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work closely within an interprofessional team including nutritionists, advanced practice nurses, physicians, social workers, respiratory care practitioners, family leaders, and other health professionals. We care for children with chronic and acute pulmonary conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings.
