The Public Works Department is the primary agency responsible for the public right-of-way, which generally includes streets, street lights, sidewalks, traffic signage, pavement markings, medians, and underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drain). The adjacent property owner also has a role in helping to maintain sidewalks and landscape shoulders.

The Public Works Department oversees the management and maintenance of public shade trees.

The Public Works Department maintains the Town's parks, athletic fields, and grounds around municipal and school buildings.

The Public Works Department operates and maintains the Town's Water System to provide safe healthy potable water for drinking, cooking, washing, landscape irrigation, and fire fighting through a reliable water system.  The Department maintains wells, water treatment facilities, booster pump stations, water mains, pipes, valves, and fire hydrants.

The Public Works Department helps protect the public health by maintaining the waste water (sewer) collection system to provide safe and sanitary collection of the Town's waste water, primarily through regular maintenance and repairs to the system.
