NHCC member survey Spring 2020

NHCC is a member club, the board would like YOUR opinion in order to have more data before its summer board meeting. Please take this short survey so there is data for discussion. Thank you Bill H for creating this (our last survey was in 2015)

Question Title

* 1. Membership length. I have been a member for this long:

Question Title

* 2. What is your primary image editing program?

Question Title

* 3. Do you display your images on the internet? Select all that apply

Question Title

* 4. Participating in FIELD TRIPS is one of the best ways to get to know other members and learn more about photography. Members have enjoyed trips ranging from week-long trips to Yellowstone NP, multiple-day trips to Amish country or the Maine coast, day trips to state parks and NYC attractions, to 2-3 hour excursions to, for example, photograph Yale’s architecture.

Question Title

* 5. Please provide any field trip suggestions

Question Title

* 6. Do you have a favorite local spot for your photography?

Question Title

* 7. Would you be willing to lead or co-lead a field trip to this location?

Question Title

* 8. Another way to improve your photography skills and get to know other members is through WORKSHOPS. Our members have a variety of special skills – or know someone who does – and many periodically offer to share their techniques with other members. These workshops often take place in the presenter’s home with 3 to 6 participants. Some recent topics have included improving photoshop skills, making greeting cards using your images, principles of judging photography competitions, and photographing flowers.

Question Title

* 9. What workshop topics would you like to see offered at NHCC?

Question Title

* 10. Are there any special photography skills you would like to impart to your fellow NHCC members?

Question Title

* 11. We currently have separate A and B Classes in Assigned Subject, Monochrome and Image Artistry. This has allowed for more winners at different levels and has created a fairer competition, giving newer members a chance to excel. Some larger clubs even have a third C class.
On the other hand, combining the A and B classes (Open would remain the same) might save time and allow for more comments by judges. If we combine classes then fewer ribbons would be awarded. A third-place ribbon could be added.
What is your preference?

Question Title

* 12. NHCC uses Photo Contest Pro software for our competitions. The category winners are announced and the 1st place makers invited to comment on their image. Non-winners remain anonymous. In the past, non-winners have wished to remain anonymous if their images have not scored well.
However, revealing the names of all makers might encourage more open discussion of images among members, e.g. “Dana, where was your waterfall image taken, or What type of flower was that, Nickie?”
Please note that all of the images and names of image-makers are posted on our NHCC website http://www.newhavencameraclub.org/p/monthly-photos.html
What is your preference?
Please note it is all or nothing, members would not be able to opt-out of having their name displayed

Question Title

* 13. Some camera clubs have transitioned to “digital ribbons” to save money.
Your thoughts?

You can see an example of a digital award here:  www.facebook.com/alexandrajoyphotog/photos/a.494307590751292/1380465422135500/?type=3&theater
Digital awards not only save money, but you could share them with friends and family, show them off on your phone, post them to Facebook, etc.

Question Title

* 14. Club participation. Check all that apply

Question Title

* 15. What are some of your favorite photographic subjects?
