Welcome!

Ten years have passed since Mediterranean stakeholders produced a set of recommendations on wildfire prevention in the Mediterranean (Position paper on wildfire prevention in the Mediterranean). As the intensity of fire risk in our region increases due to climate and socioeconomic challenges, it is critical to understand the progress that has been made toward meeting these recommendations, and to assess new actions that are required to address the Mediterranean wildfire reality.

The European Forest Institute (EFI), the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO)a, the Turkish General Directorate of Forestry (OGM)a, The Chamber of Forest Engineers of Turkey and the Diputació de Barcelona (Spain) want to explore the current approaches and future priorities regarding wildfire prevention in different Mediterranean countries, and understand future development needs moving forward. We invite you to take part in this survey on wildfire prevention in the Mediterranean. It has 10 questions and will take around 10 minutes to complete.

The results will be used to inform future work on updating Mediterranean recommendations for wildfire prevention and will be presented in the side event Resilient landscapes, safe communities. Innovative Practices in Integrated Fire Management (IFM) in the Mediterranean, in the 7th Mediterranean Forest Week, on Tuesday 22 March. This event aims to:

  1. Extract lessons from innovative IFM from across the Mediterranean regions.
  2. Promote networking and knowledge sharing, involving key stakeholders from science and practice.
  3. Identify main topics of interest to set the basis for the new Position paper on wildfire prevention in the Mediterranean.

Your contributions collected through this survey are very valuable to help gather the most comprehensive information on this topic in our region. Thank you in advance for your collaboration.
