Dates to Remember

NCCJ ANYTOWN Dates: Sunday, August 7 - Friday, August 12
Everyone is expected to stay for the entire duration of NCCJ ANYTOWN. If you cannot attend for the entire time, please do not apply this year.

Parent Orientation Date: Wednesday, June 1 from 7:15pm - 8:00pm

Delegate Acceptance Packet and Payment Due: Friday, June 10 by 11:59pm.

* 1. Where is NCCJ ANYTOWN located this year?

NCCJ ANYTOWN is located at Camp Wightman in Griswold, CT. Located on Billings Lake in southeastern Connecticut, facilities include 250+ acres with a beach, recreational spaces and endless walking trails. This is the place to be in the middle of summer! * 2. How much does it cost and when is payment due?

The cost to attend NCCJ ANYTOWN is $625, but financial aid is available. The full cost to attend NCCJ ANYTOWN is actually about $3,000, but NCCJ has already secured $2,375 in scholarship for each Delegate.

The $625 is due with your acceptance packet on June 10. If you need a payment plan, please contact Christina Gray at cgray@nccj.org before June 3.

* 3. I need financial aid, what do I do?

Financial Aid is available to ALL applicants based on need and is awarded to Delegates based on a sliding scale. Fill out the financial aid packet on the NCCJ ANYTOWN website carefully. You will receive notice of your financial aid award along with your acceptance packet. Accepted applicants may receive full or partial scholarships based on need and available funds.

* 4. Is the information I provide on the application confidential?

Yes! Only NCCJ ANYTOWN Advisors and NCCJ staff will see your application.

* 5. How will I be notified if I have been accepted into the program or not?

You will receive an email (at the email address you provide on your application) notifying you of your acceptance by May 25, 2022. You can download the NCCJ Acceptance Packet on the NCCJ ANYTOWN website.

* 6. What should I bring to NCCJ ANYTOWN?

If you are accepted into the program, you will receive an email (at the email address you provide on your application) with a list of suggested things to bring, additional forms, bus schedules, and more information.

* 7. Is NCCJ providing transportation to and from Camp Wightman?

Yes! NCCJ will provide transposition. Pick-up locations will be announced in mid-July. All participants must come on the NCCJ bus. Participants are not allowed to be dropped off directly at the camp.

* 8. What time does camp start on August 7 and end on August 12?

Delegates will board the NCCJ bus the morning of August 7 and dropped off in the early evening of August 12.

* 9. Can I leave early or come late?

No! We expect you to attend the entire residential program, all six days. If you cannot make the entire six days, please do not apply and consider applying for another year when you are able to attend the entire residential program. No exceptions!

* 10. How can parents learn more about ANYTOWN?

NCCJ will host a virtual Parent Information session on Wednesday, June 1 from 7:15pm - 8:00pm. Parents can always call or email prior to acceptance if they have any questions.

* 11. What kind of food will we get?

Camp Wightman has a full-service kitchen that prepares meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and an evening snack. Each meal includes options for those who have dietary restrictions. You will be able to let us know if you have any food allergies or other specifications in your application.

* 12. I’m nervous to come by myself. Will I be able to make friends?

Absolutely! Most of the delegates come alone or barely “knowing” other students from their school or community. As soon as you arrive, you will find yourself immersed in the friendliest, most welcoming, warm, and accepting community. Our staff strives to make you feel comfortable. We have activities planned from the moment you arrive to get you acquainted with each other and staff. Each delegate will be placed in a cabin with approximately 11 other people staffed by two youth counselors, a senior counselor, and a designated adult advisor.

* 13. What if I have been accepted and I cannot attend?

Please let us know, as soon as you know, that you will not be able to attend to allow the next person on our waiting list to take your spot. Each spot at NCCJ ANYTOWN is valuable in cost and experience, so we plan to have each spot filled. Your program fee minus the registration fee will be returned if you cancel by July 3, 2022. After this date, any last-minute cancellation will be subject to an administration fee of $100 with the remaining balance refunded.

* 14. I am not enrolled in any high school; can I still apply?

Yes, as long as you’re between the ages of 14 - 18 you are eligible to apply.

* 15. I just graduated high school this year can I still apply?

One of the primary goals of NCCJ ANYTOWN is to have the delegates return to their high schools and take actions steps to bring positive changes to their communities. With this said, depending on available spots and if you are 18 years of age or younger, we do accept applications from graduated high school students. Please send in your application and we will inform you of our decision
