About the Survey: Is BLS data a bunch of "BS"?'
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the average pay of an automotive technician is $46,970 per year ($22.58 per hour), and the average pay for diesel technicians is $54,360 per year ($26.14 per hour). They also cite the highest 10% receiving pay of around $75,000. We know from the 1,000+ shops on WrenchWay and countless others we work with that this data is simply not accurate.

We feel people are being misled by these numbers which is one cause (not the only) for fewer people pursuing a career in the industry. We want to change that by presenting accurate information.

In order to get a better understanding of the earning potential of technicians in different regions and throughout various stages of their careers, we want to invite you to fill out our first annual Technician Pay Survey. Everyone who completes the survey will be eligible to win prizes including Milwaukee Tools, $200 gift card, t-shirts, hats, and more. (Please note: We will verify each winner actually works in the auto or diesel industries as a technician/mechanic.)

Individual results are anonymous and no personal information will ever be shared.  Only the analysis of combined data will be published.

Thank you! Your input is greatly appreciated!
