Caltrans Landscape Specialist
Pay scale: $6,414.00 - $7,960.00

(STEP 1) MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a valid Agricultural Pest Control Adviser license issued by the California Environmental Protection Agency (CAL-EPA) covering the following categories: control of insects, mites and other invertebrates; control of vertebrate pests; control of weeds; regulation of plant growth. Must be registered with the county agricultural commissioner. (Possession of the license and registration with the county agricultural commissioner are not required to compete in the examination, but they must be obtained prior to appointment.) AND Either I Two years of experience in the California State Department of Transportation performing maintenance or construction duties in a maintenance function in a class comparable to Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor with responsibility for at least one landscape maintenance crew OR II Four years of broad experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance, tree maintenance or chemical vegetation control work, two years of which shall have been as a supervisor responsible for planning and directing the work of three or more supervised crews.

Caltrans Equipment Operator II

(STEP 1) MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS: One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Caltrans Equipment Operator I

Or II Two years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker or Caltrans Landscape Maintenance Worker Or III

Either l. Three years of experience in the California Department of Transportation performing the duties of a Service Assistant (Maintenance) including training in and operation of highway maintenance or construction equipment or 2. Two years of experience within the last five years (this time limitation is extended for a period equivalent to that spent in recognized military service during the last five years) in operating highway construction or maintenance equipment or in operating light trucks requiring a Class B commercial driver license or 3. Possession of certification as a Heavy Equipment Operator Technician from a college or university accredited by the California Superintendent of Public Instruction, or a college or university approved by the Bureau on Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education, under the provisions of California Education Code Chapter 3, Part 59, Division 10.

Cook Specialist II
Pay scale: $3004.17 - $4426.00

(STEP 1) MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS: Either I Two years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Cook Specialist I Or II Three years of experience as a cook in one or a combination of the following: 1. Preparing food for at least 250 persons a meal with experience at the various stations, not less than six months of which shall have been in charge of the work of kitchen helpers or others doing similar work. or 2. Personally preparing complete breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for 50 or more persons a meal. (Short-order cooking experience is not considered qualifying.) (Full-time training in a recognized trade school for cooks and bakers may be substituted for not more than two years of either type of the required experience on the basis of one month of such school attendance being equal to two months of experience.)
