Introduction
This is the examination for the Maintenance Worker, Tunnels and Tubes classification.
The Maintenance Worker, Tunnels and Tubes examination is being given on an open, non-promotional, quarterly continuous basis. This examination consists of completing an online Training and Experience evaluation and an STD678 State Application.
The STD.678 is required to be uploaded prior to proceeding with the Supplemental Application Questionnaire. The STD.678 must be in a PDF format to be uploaded. Click here for the link to the (STD.678) form if you do not already have one available to submit.
Training and Experience Evaluation
This questionnaire is your entire exam and is designed to elicit a range of specific information regarding each candidate's knowledge, abilities, and experience to effectively perform the duties relative to the classification. Candidates are responsible for reading all of the material provided prior to completing the questionnaire. Responses will be evaluated using predetermined rating criteria. In order to obtain a position on the eligible list, a minimum rating of 70% must be attained. Please answer questions completely since incomplete responses and omitted information cannot be considered and/or assumed. Resumes, letters of references, and other materials will not be evaluated or considered as responses to items in the Training and Experience Evaluation.(NOTE: Failure to meet the entrance requirements and/or to complete this evaluation accurately will result in elimination from this examination.)
The Training and Experience evaluation consists of 11 Training & Experience statements. This Training and Experience Evaluation is scored, and accounts for 100% of your overall score in this examination. It is important to complete the questionnaire carefully and accurately.
The examination answers can be saved for completion at a later time. You must push the 'NEXT' button on the bottom of the current page to save any completed work. On the final page of the examination there will be a 'CONFIRM RESULTS' button. Once you hit 'CONFIRM RESULTS' you will be submitting your examination as completed and will not be able to go back to your examination at a later time.
Examinations are processed on a quarterly continuous basis. The quarterly cut-off dates for 2022 are August 31 and November 30 by 11:59 pm. Pacific Standard Time (PST). Both the STD.678 and the Training and Experience evaluation must be completed and submitted by the time and date mentioned above to be processed. To submit any work completed hit the 'CONFIRM RESULTS' button. Application packages received after the the quarterly cut-off date will be processed the following test period.
Candidates will be notified of their scores approximately 4-6 weeks after cut-off date.
