Manuscript Assessment

Have a completed manuscript and don’t know what to do next? Submit your work to an industry professional for a manuscript assessment and get in-depth, expert advice and constructive criticism from someone that writes professionally in your genre.

A manuscript assessment includes a structural edit of your manuscript, which, depending on format, concerns big-picture elements like story structure, character arcs, genre conventions and audience response. On top of that, you’ll get a written feedback report from your assessor, and the chance to meet with them twice - once at the beginning and once at the end of the manuscript assessment. You don't need to be a member of Queensland Writers Centre to apply.

Manuscript Assessment rates are based on your project's format, word/page count and may vary depending on your assessor. The prices listed here include two half-hour consultation sessions. If your manuscript length falls outside the word-count brackets listed above, or doesn't apply because of the format of your work (e.g. a screenplay), or you'd simply like to discuss further, please select the 'Other - please contact to discuss' option and we will reach out to arrange a personalised quote.
