The DNR Live Release Record Fish program accepts length-only record applications for the catch and live release of selected species in Wisconsin waters. The program is designed to promote the conservation of fisheries resources and quality fishing by encouraging the careful release of trophy-size popular sport species.

Fish must be caught by legal angling methods and released in good condition in the water from which it was caught. Fish can be caught from any water of the state.
Note: Questions with asterisks require answers.

Question Title

* 1. Angler information

Live release records will be recognized by length only. Fish will be determined by total length measured to the nearest 1/4 inch (longest measurement from the closed mouth to the tip of the compressed tail - see figure at right). Girth around the widest part of the fish should also be measured.

To be certified, new live release records must exceed the existing length record by at least 1/4 inch.
