2020 ACCOUNTING CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAM APPLICATION

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:
At this time, Dallas ACAP and TCU ACAP are still receiving applications for summer 2020.  We are working with SMU and TCU and are closely monitoring their decisions on summer programs. We are also monitoring the directives from NABA National with regard to ACAP programs his summer.

Dear High School Student:

ACAP (Accounting Career Awareness Program) is a one-week residency program for high school students interested in a career in accounting or business.  The program introduces students to accounting, finance, economics, and management through a focused, undergraduate-level program taught by college faculty and guest lecturers in business and government.  During the week, students have the opportunity to attend classes on careers in accounting and business, personal development and college preparation and tour college campuses, local companies, and CPA firms.  The program concludes with the students inviting their parent(s) or guardian(s) to a closing luncheon or banquet in commemoration of their completion of the program at the end of the week. 

In summer 2020, interested high school students have the option of applying to one of two locations:

---  Dallas ACAP Week is June 21 - 26, 2020 on the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU) for high school students of all grade levels.  The Dallas ACAP website:  www.dallasacap.com.

---  TCU ACAP Week is July 12 - 17, 2020 on the campus of Texas Christian University (TCU) for high school students (all grade levels).  The ACAP web page is:  http://www.neeley.tcu.edu/ACAP/.

Students may not attend both summer camps.

Students interested in ACAP should review selected documents prior to completing this application (ACAP presentations, timeline, flyers, etc.) that are included on the respective ACAP websites.

Requirements for admission are as follows:
 
-- Must be a high school student  at time of application (all grade levels)
-- Complete the online application below
-- Has a minimum of 3.0 GPA (may take a 2.8 if there are strong extracurricular activities)
-- Submit two (2) letters of recommendation (from teachers, counselors, coaches, ministers, bosses, etc., but not family members)
-- Submit a 100-word essay (included in the online application)
-- Submit an unofficial high school transcript
-- Attend an onsite interview (to be scheduled in April or May)

--  Have participated in selected ACAP and/or NABA-related activities to support and/or promote ACAP since you last attended ACAP.  This support and promotion should be documented. Merely telling your friends about ACAP does not meet the promotion and/or participation requirement. In addition, stating "I had a good time last year" does not, of itself,  constitute sufficient reason for returning.  Thus, this question has more to do with "what you have done for ACAP" rather than "what you want from ACAP".
