Overview

Leading from the Middle cultivates the individual and collective leadership capacity of community college practitioners committed to advancing systemic transformation.

This application serves as an expression of interest in having a team from your college participate in one of the two 2023–24 Leading from the Middle (LFM) Statewide Academies being offered in partnership with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO). The academies will be free of charge for participants, inclusive of food and lodging for in-person convenings. Participants will be responsible for travel costs to/from in-person convenings. LFM teams will be limited to six members for in-person convenings.

Team members should represent diverse positions and areas of the college (including adjunct/tenured faculty, administrators, classified staff, and institutional researchers). Identification of all team members is not necessary for the application process. An assigned LFM coach will work with you and others at your college during the pre-academy preparation activities to refine your LFM team. In addition, your team will need to identify a project that advances equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism work at your institution. Ideally, the project should be aligned with your college’s strategic priorities and the Vision for Success. The project allows team members to practice individual and collective leadership skills and the space to advance an initiative or address a priority issue at your institution.

To be considered for a 2023–24 LFM Statewide Academy, interested colleges should identify a team lead who will complete the application on behalf of the team. If some or all members of your team have been identified, please provide their names, titles, and contact information in the space provided in the application. We strongly encourage teams to have the support of a high-level administrator such as a vice president of instruction/academic affairs, vice president of student services, the college president, and/or department deans. The final submission date for applications is 11:59 pm on Monday, April 3, 2023.
