Reference Form

Leadership Franklin County Youth (LFCY) is a selective leadership program providing learning opportunities to Franklin County high school sophomores (public, private or home school) with the goal of creating youth leaders who are actively engaged in responsible, ethical, and effective leadership.  This program is offered free due to the generous financial support of Wilson College.

Students apply in their Freshman year and begin in May 2023.  Sessions are mainly during the school day from September thru April.  They engage in a summer retreat and are required to complete a school community project as well as volunteer at one of two community LFC events.

This program is geared for students with leadership potential who may not be currently serving in any student leadership roles.  Your help in providing a reference for a student will allow us to select students with potential to develop/grow in their leadership journey.

This reference should  completed by an applicant's teacher, coach, school administrator or any other adult (20yo or older) that has served as a mentor to the student and is not a relative.

All applicants go through an interview process with our steering committee members in March 2023.  Students chosen for the new class will be notified by mid April 2023.

Students must be in good school status (grades/attendance and behavior) for them to participate.

Application and reference deadline is Friday, February 10, 2023.   The application packet is not complete without two references.
