Thank you for taking the time to provide input on the City of Duluth's planned improvements at SR 120 (Abbotts Bridge Road) and Pine Needle Drive. The following few pages contain overview information about the project and the alternatives currently being considered. Please review this information and provide your feedback at the end of the survey.
The purpose of this virtual public meeting is to gather citizen feedback on the two proposed alternatives. The public response will drive the decision making regarding the alternative with which to move forward through design. Citizens are encouraged to submit comments either online at the end of this survey or by submitting comments on a comment card and returning it via email, fax, in person drop off at Duluth City Hall, or postal service.
The intersection of SR 120 (Abbotts Bridge Road) has been identified as being in need of safety improvements. Currently, the following two alternatives are being considered:
Realignment Alternative - Would realign Pine Needle Drive to a 90 degree intersection and provide a right turn lane from SR 120 onto Pine Needle Drive.
Cul-de-Sac Alternative – Would close and cul-de-sac Pine Needle Drive at SR 120. Traffic that would have utilized Pine Needle Drive would then be routed through the recently constructed signal at SR 120 and George Rogers Avenue and then along George Rogers Avenue to Irvindale Road.
Regardless of which alternative is selected, the following schedule is anticipated:
Design – 9-15 months, depending on alternative
Right of Way Acquisition – 4-6 months
Construction Bidding and Contracting – 3-6 months
Construction Duration – 6-12 months, depending on alternative
The following page contains more information about these two alternatives.
