Fellow RCI and Chapter members, the following candidates have been nominated by the Nominations Committee and approved by the Board of Directors for the positions indicated.  All votes must be received no later than 5:00 PM on Friday December 14th, 2018.

Ivan Chak, P.E. (CA), RRO, Staff Engineer, Larsen Zienkiewicz Inc.

Mr. Chak is a staff engineer with Larsen Zienkiewicz, Inc., an independent consulting firm specializing in the new design, rehabilitation and investigation of building envelopes based in the Southern California.  In his role as a building envelope consultant, Ivan collaborates with design professionals, contractors and owners to investigate and solve challenges relating to all aspects of roofing, waterproofing, and exterior walls.  Ivan is a professional engineer registered in the state of California, and RCI Registered Roof Observer (RRO).  Ivan joined RCI, Inc. in 2015 and has been an active participant in the local SoCal Chapter.  In the past year, Ivan served as Treasurer; Chair for Finance, Education, and Marketing/Media Committees; and Co-Chair of the Hawaii Winter Workshop Committee.  At the national level, he also represented Region V as a member of the RCI, Inc. Chapter Development Committee.

Since joining the board in 2017, I have consistently attended and participated in board meetings and functions, and regularly assisted in organizing and executing educational events that included the 17th, 18th and upcoming 19th Hawaii Winter Workshops, technical dinner meetings, and plant tour event.  In my role as Treasurer for the past two years, the Chapter has supported the development of the NorCal Chapter of RCI and successfully sustained our annual charitable donations and Chapter operations while maintaining a net profit each fiscal year.  Since joining the board, it has been my pleasure to contribute to the high caliber of professional and educational opportunities offered by the SoCal Chapter to our members, and facilitate events that foster industry collaboration, comradery and growth.  I hope to build on our strong momentum and active presence in the local A/E/C community by developing educational and outreach initiatives to bring awareness of our industry to local universities and trade schools to welcome a new generation of members.  I am dedicated to championing the future success of the Chapter, and look forward to your support and confidence as Vice President.
SECRETARY (1 Year Position)

Gary Weaver, Principal, Atlas Consulting

Gary has been involved in the construction industry since 1974 and is a Principal with Atlas Consulting of Irvine, California.

He has been a manager at Engineering News Record 1-3 rated firms and his experience includes, laborer, roofer, estimator, project manager, consultant and legal expert. He surveyed more than 24,000 roofs in twelve States and Canada from 1977 – 2009.  

Gary served as Region Director for RCI, Inc., and member of the Southern California Chapter of RCI, Inc., Board of Directors in various capacities since 2007.

TREASURER (1 Year Position)

Jeff Neilson, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Associate, Wiss Janney Elstner Associates Inc.
Jeff Neilson is an architect and building envelope consultant specializing in investigating and problem-solving building envelope failures, as well as designing roofing, plaza deck, vegetative roof, cladding, glazing systems, and subgrade waterproofing systems. He also has extensive experience with building envelope consulting for historic preservation projects. Jeff designs, details, and oversees the construction of building envelope systems for various building types, including high-rise hotels and condominiums, museums, retail storefronts, universities, and office buildings. After studying Architecture at UC Berkeley, where he organized and managed a student-run building restoration project, Jeff has worked at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates (WJE) for the past thirteen years.

Richard Mosco, AIA, Associate Principal, Wiss Janney Elstner Associates Inc.

Richard Mosco is an architect and has inspected over 2,500 structures for various organizations, including building owners, contractors, attorneys, real estate brokers, property management firms, and lenders. He has extensive experience in architectural and structural forensics, building enclosure commissioning, and building enclosure/roof consulting. Mr. Mosco has investigated numerous property types, including residential buildings, hotels, restaurants, industrial buildings, schools, medical facilities, retail complexes, and outdoor recreational sites. He has also served as an expert witness in numerous litigation cases and is well-versed in due diligence reports and disabled access compliance reviews.

Jason Mullis, RRO, CDT, Senior Consultant, Allana Buick & Bers Inc.

Ramon Olsen, RRO, Senior Project Supervisor, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc.

Ramon Olsen joined Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH) in 2008. He has over eighteen years of practical experience in building construction, management, and real estate development. As a General Contractor, Ramon has experience in new construction of single and multi-family housing and commercial reconstruction projects. As a Project Manager for Real Estate Development, Ramon was responsible for projects from entitlement through design development to occupancy. In addition, Ramon provides litigation support for projects involving design and application of construction systems and components, exterior walls and windows, materials, below-grade waterproofing, and plaza decks.

Greg Morrow, Sales Representative, HOA Specialist, Eagle Roofing Products

Mr. Morrow first joined Eagle Roofing Products back in 1989 when they were first established. Coming from another division of the parent company, Burlingame Industries and per the owner’s request, Greg starting in the roof tile manufacturing plant learning all aspects of the manufacturing process. After three months of experience, became the line foreman before moving on to a sales position which was the plan all along. After 10 years as the Orange County Sales representative Greg left Eagle to pursue other areas of the construction industry. Greg returned to Eagle in 2010 and has specialized in the HOA segment of the market. Greg’s position affords him the opportunity to work with Community Managers, Community Association BOD, Consultants, Architects, Builders, Roofing Contractors, Roofing Distributors and Homeowners.

Greg has been involved with the SoCal Chapter of RCI for many years and has served on the RCI Golf Committee for the last three years. He has also been a member of the BOD for the last two years. In that role, Greg has assisted Gary Weaver as Education Secretary with establishing a “Road to RRO” training program to assist those who wish to get that certification from RCI. Greg’s goal is to get his own RRO certification in 2019.
