During the 2016-17 school year, all K-12 educators are encouraged to provide feedback on the proposed South Dakota Health Education Standards (SDHES) and Performance Indicators.
The SDHES committee members will reconvene in June of 2017 to consider all feedback from the field and make any necessary changes. The SDHES and Performance Indicators will then receive four public hearings before the State Board of Education during the 2017-18 school year.
2018-2019 will be capacity building years for the revised SDHES and Performance Indicators, with educators expected to teach to the new SDHES and Performance Indicators in school year 2019-2020.
