Subdivision Staging Policy Transportation Discussion Questions

Please help inform the effort to update the Subdivision Staging Policy (SSP) by providing detailed responses to any of the following questions, which relate to how the policy addresses the adequacy of the County’s transportation infrastructure. For more information about the SSP, visit the Planning Department’s website, read the text of the current policy, or review information presented at the October 7 Community Workshop.

1. Traffic Congestion

Question Title

On a day-to-day basis, how do you feel that traffic congestion impacts your life?

Is the problem primarily during morning or evening rush hours or throughout the day?

What steps can the County take to improve mobility and transportation systems?

2. Travel Safety/Vision Zero

Question Title

Generally speaking, do you feel safe when you travel by various modes (i.e., car, transit, bike and walking) in the County?

How can the County incorporate Vision Zero concepts in the Subdivision Staging Policy and evaluate the adequacy of travel safety conditions?

What safety features need to be prioritized? What features would help improve the safety of our roads? (For example, buffers, protected intersections, crosswalk spacing, etc.)

3. Community Design/Smart Growth

How can we design our communities to be more walkable and compact?

4. Infrastructure Investment

How well does the County invest in transportation infrastructure?

Question Title

We currently use a variety of tools to generate funding for transportation infrastructure including impact taxes, mitigation payments and the Unified Mobility Program. How can the County increase the amount of funding available for transportation infrastructure?

Given constrained budgets (or complicated negotiations with developers), how should the County prioritize different types of transportation infrastructure improvements (intersection improvements, increased road capacity, pedestrian or bicycle facilities, safety improvements, etc.)?

5. Impacts of New Technologies
