In March 2024, the City of Burbank implemented Phase 1 of its Downtown San Fernando Blvd Reconfiguration, converting traffic to one lane and implementing traffic calming striping improvements on San Fernando Blvd. between Olive Ave. and Magnolia Ave. The project added landscaping planters, quick-build curb extensions, additional outdoor dining space, and short-term vehicle parking. These quick-build elements promoted slow vehicle speeds and made drivers more likely to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

In August 2025, City Council voted to implement Phase 2 of the project, making the changes permanent with more durable materials and a full sidewalk reconstruction. The City has received funding from Caltrans and Metro to implement the project, along with other traffic safety and streetscape improvements in Downtown. Now, we need your help to determine a vision for what you would like to see in Downtown Burbank. Please share your thoughts below!
