We at The National Research & Training Center (NRTC) on Blindness and Low Vision at Mississippi State University are developing a mobile application reminder system called Transition on Track!, a transition information resource for use by parents of youth who are blind or deafblind.

It will cover the ages of preschool through the end of the youth’s education, with the intention of helping youth who are blind or deafblind become as independent as possible, including preparing for employment upon completion of their education. This resource will be in the format of a mobile app for use on a smart phone or in a web browser, and will provide information, recommend activities, and link to resources that will educate and support families with a growing youth who is blind or deafblind.

The app will go through many stages of development, and along the way, we will ask for insight from people like you—parents who would be potential users of the app.

We will have several opportunities for participation:

  • Focus groups for input on design plans – currently recruiting!
  • User testing of select app functions and content – 2017
  • Field testing of the app in actual use by families – future

By providing us with your contact information now, you are simply agreeing to be contacted for possible opportunities to participate in the development of the app. You are under no obligation to participate in any study activity.

Below, we will ask for contact information and some categorizing information about your child. Your information will not be shared with any other organizations.
