The purpose of this form is to establish an inventory of your existing tools, incentives, and services, and educate schools and districts on SLOCOG's SRTS program.
What is SLOCOG's Safe Routes to School program? The San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG) is SLO County's Regional Transportation Planning agency, responsible for transportation planning and funding. SLOCOG's learn-by-doing Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program consists of in-class education, including on-bike instruction, during physical education classes and “train-the-trainer” programs to create a sustainable program at additional schools for the future.
What is a School Champion? The most important component of having a SRTS program at your school is having a point of contact (School Champion) that can communicate with a large percentage of students, parents, staff and faculty. This form is designed to take inventory of your school's communication structure and existing services, tools, and resources.
