Dear Parents and Community Members:

As Superintendent of the Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD), I am proud of the excellent teaching and learning that makes every school in our district among the best in the State. Our job is to ensure our students succeed— in college, career, and life.

Many of our Las Virgenes USD school sites were built in the 1960s and 1970s

and need ongoing basic repairs. Although well maintained, all of our schools need updates to keep pace with modern teaching and learning standards.

Our district always focuses on using limited resources wisely. However, the State simply does not provide the support needed for us to adequately repair and upgrade our school facilities and classroom technology.

Planning for facilities that support excellent teaching and learning continues to be a top priority for us. That’s why we are in the process of updating our Facilities Needs Assessment, which includes feedback from teachers, parents, students, and staff at almost 30 meetings held this September. The Board of Education is also considering a General Obligation bond to fund facilities needs.

We want to hear from you as we continue this process. Your opinion is important—take our survey online or return the attached response card by October 18. If you’d like to convene a group of community members to hear more, or have questions, please email or call (818) 878-5225.

Daniel Stepenosky, Ed.D, Superintendent, LVUSD
