Parent Information Center (PIC) Volunteer Advocate Training Program Application
Volunteer Advocate Training Information
PIC’s Volunteer Advocate (VA) training program is a free 11-week (44-hour) course designed to assist parents and others in gaining the knowledge and skills to enhance their ability to support other parents of children with disabilities in the special education process, as well as to advocate effectively for their own children. The program and its requirements are described in the Volunteer Advocates for Special Education Training Program Description. Participants are expected to attend all training sessions and fulfill all of the program’s requirements.
Please note that the program can only accommodate a limited number of participants each year, so acceptance is not guaranteed. Participant selection is made based on a number of factors, with preference given to parents of children/youth with disabilities and to applicants from areas or populations currently underrepresented in PIC’s VA network.
If you are interested in applying for the VA training program, please complete this application form.
