* 1. Welcome to the ICI Society Membership Application process. 

As you may already realize, given you have reached the application stage, Membership in the ICI Society can bring great value to your organization by providing access to a collaborative network of organizations throughout BC, dedicated to working together to create innovative, location-based solutions.  

The application consists of 25 questions and before you get started you may want to acquaint yourself with the 5 membership types that you can apply under:

Local Government Membership:
An organization governed by the Community Charter, or Local Government Act, or the Islands Trust Act.

Provincial Government Membership:
A ministry or agency of the Provincial government of British Columbia.

Utility Membership:
An organization operating within British Columbia whose purpose is the installation and operation of physical infrastructure and is regulated by any of the following agencies or statutes:

The BC Utilities Commission;
Canadian Radio/Television and Telecommunications Commission;
The National Energy Board;
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada;
The Railway Act of British Columbia, as amended from time to time;
The Railway Act of Canada, as amended from time to time; or,
The BC Oil and Gas Commission. 
 
First Nations Membership:
A First Nations Government within British Columbia and recognized by the Government of Canada or a Treaty First Nation.

Associate Membership:
An organization that engages in activities or has interests consistent with the purposes of the Society.  Some examples of Associate Members include private sector companies, Port Authorities, RCMP, Translink, BC One Call Ltd…

Additionally, certain Terms and Conditions apply to all Members of the ICI Society to ensure secure access and appropriate use of shared spatial data.

* 2. If your organization is applying as a Utility, to qualify to belong to the Utilities Class an organization must:
a) be operating within British Columbia;
b) have the purpose of installing and operating physical infrastructure to provide power, telecommunications, rail services or oil and gas gathering, transmission and distribution; and,
c) be regulated by any of the following agencies or under any of the following statutes, as amended from time to time:
i. BC Utilities Commission;
ii. Canadian Radio/Television and Telecommunications Commission;

iv. Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada;
