Job Description:
As an associate with The Uncommon Individual Foundation, you will have the opportunity to work alongside innovative and disruptive start-up businesses and non-profits supported by the UIF Entrepreneur Mentoring Program. Working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, you will gain a wide breadth of consulting experience, as well as play a vital role in the development and success of organizations supported by UIF. The opportunity to collaborate with entrepreneurs, UIF staff, and fellow analysts enable high potential university students to expand skill-sets with tangible industry experience while accessing a powerful network of mentors and professionals. 

The Role 

You will be paired with one or two Philadelphia based startup companies to work on and develop their product or business idea. You will serve as a key player on the team, working side-by-side with the founders and other interns while they make key company decisions. Your role will include, but not limited to coming up and finalizing marketing strategies, marketing research, social media content calendars, etc… 

You will also be asked to provide feedback and ideas for internal events, company projects, and community/mentoring connections. 

Communications/Marketing Applicant Description
  • Proven interest in entrepreneurship 
  • Studying or has experience in digital marketing, marketing strategy, grant writing, copywriting, marketing analytics
  • Experience with content development for social media, print campaigns, annual reports, website, product descriptions
  • Some experience or willingness to learn grant writing and other nonprofit development tools 
  • Design skills (Adobe Suite or similar) is a plus
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and pivot with the entrepreneur
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills 
  • Strong desire to learn and take on projects you might not have experience with 
  • Sophomore and above, including graduate level
Business Associate Applicant Description
  • Proven interest in entrepreneurship 
  • Studying or have experience with business concepts-- finance, data analytics, market research, marketing (financial modeling, consumer research/discovery)
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and pivot with the entrepreneur
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Strong desire to learn and take on projects you might not have experience with
  • Sophomore and above, including graduate level
