Award Description:

The ACF Chef Educator of the Year award pays tribute to an active culinary educator whose knowledge, skills, expertise, guidance and direction have enhanced the image of the professional chef and who, by example, has given leadership, guidance and direction to students seeking a career in the culinary profession. This person demonstrates the ability to help students define and develop their careers by using their skills and abilities to provide a strong foundation for their future success.
Application Information & Guidelines

Application Fee:
$150 for ACF Members
$400 Non-Members 
   (which includes 1 year of ACF National Membership)

Please be prepared to submit all required materials listed below:
• A completed application 
• A professional resume and biography of the candidate.
• List of professional education development activities.
• Letter of recommendation from a school administrator.
• A high resolution, digital, color photograph of candidate in a white chef coat 
                  · (minimum 300 dpi, .tif or .jpeg format, minimum
                     1200x1600 pixels)
Also an original lesson plan that includes the following elements:
• A brief paragraph identifying program type, grade level
   and student audience for the lesson.
• Time schedule for the actual lesson/demonstration.
• A brief statement on how the students were prepared before
   the lesson to be demonstrated.
• Lesson title.
• Competency and/or goals with learning objectives.
• Resources such as teaching aides, references, etc.
• Lesson plan of action - concise and detailed plans for
   presentation and demonstration. Include key terms with
   definitions, recipes and lab practical and/or student worksheets.
•Evaluation device - rubric for lab practical, quiz, test
  and/or other applicable evaluation tool. Grading policy outlined.

· All required materials must be submitted before deadline - midnight on November 1, 2020
Candidate Eligibility:
Candidate should demonstrate the ability to help students define and develop their careers by using their skills and abilities to provide a strong foundation for their future success.
• Be and ACF member in good standing for at least five (5) years.
  *If you are a non-member applying a recommendation letter from a current member in good standing must be combined with your other letter of recommendation from a school administrator
• Hold an ACF certification such as CCE, CSCE, CEC, CEPC, CMC,
  CMPC or PCEC.
• Be an active culinary instructor, culinary chairperson or a culinary
  dean in charge of curriculum building in a culinary program for the
  year in which the nomination is made.
• Have five (5) or more years of full-time teaching in a secondary
   or post-secondary culinary school.
• Have at a minimum two-year degree in culinary arts or hospitality
  management, or a bachelor's degree or higher in any field.
• Not have applied for any other regional or national award
  from ACF.

NOTE: Past regional winners may reapply after five years. Past national winners cannot reapply.

I hereby certify that the information I have submitted is correct. Furthermore, I grant permission to the American Culinary Federation and its subsidiaries to use the information included in my application in print and electronically for promotional purposes, which may include video and/or photography. I understand that I will not be compensated and that I may not be notified of each use. I understand my presence is required in order to accept the award, or I void the agreement stated in the application guidelines and the next competitor that is present will receive the award. Also, I agree that all decisions made by the awards task force are final and not subject to appeal and know that the application fee is not refundable.

Selection Process for the ChefConnects:
Each past Chef Educator winner in good standing, as defined by the ACF Bylaws within your region, will have one vote. Ballots will be sent to past Chef Educator winners electronically from the national office on or before the last working day of November and must be returned to the national office by the posted deadline.

Notification of advancement: January 2021
The regional winners will be announced at the corresponding regional conference during the regional ChefConnect awards ceremony. Attendance is required at the candidates regional ChefConnect to receive the award.

ChefConnect- Pittsburgh, PA: March 6-8, 2021      
   (Northeast & Southeast Region candidates)
ChefConnect- St. Louis, MO: March 27-29, 2021   
   (Central Region candidates)
ChefConnect- Tucson, AZ: April 17-19, 2021         
  (Western Region candidates)

Selection Process for the National Convention:
The four regional winners will compete in front of a live audience for the national award. National competition requirements will be sent out to the regional winners by the end of April 2021.

The educator with the highest score will be the winner. The national winner will be announced at the President's Grand Ball on the final night of national convention. Attendance is required.

NOTE: Schedule conflicts will not be accommodated and incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
