Section 109 of Title 1 of the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, and familial status in programs and activities receiving financial assistance from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD’s) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The Town of Islip is in the process of updating its “Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice,” which is required to be updated periodically pursuant to continued receipt of CDBG Program funds. The analysis is intended to identify conditions specific to the Town of Islip (including its four villages) that impede access to fair housing by all persons in protected classes – including the federally-protected classes: race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability and familial status – and determine actions that can overcome such impediments.
