Please note that you must be at least 18 years of age to complete this survey.
Dental care is the number one unmet health need among adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). This often results in these people with ID/DD having poor oral health, with dental needs that are more severe than for people without ID/DD.
Oral health is important to Nevada Medicaid, the Oral Health Program (OHP), and the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD), and we want to improve oral health for ID/DD adults. To address this unmet need in Nevada, expanded dental services have been temporarily added to the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ID) Waiver through funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This is different than the types of services Nevada Medicaid typically provides for adults with ID/DD, which currently only includes emergency extractions, palliative care, and removable prosthesis with prior authorization. These expanded dental services are only for individuals ages 21 and older on the ID Waiver.
Thank you for agreeing to complete this survey. The information you provide will be used to improve access to dental care and oral health services for Nevadans with intellectual disabilities. It will be used to develop training for the dentists and dental hygienists in Nevada to help them become more sensitive to the needs and preferences of people with disabilities.
All data will be combined to ensure that there is no possibility of identifying you and your answers. Your participation is voluntary. Please note that, if you answer all of the questions, it will be very helpful to determine the dental care needs of Nevadans with disabilities.
If you are completing the survey as a parent or caregiver, please answer these questions for the person with an ID/DD for whom you provide care.
When you complete the survey, you will be considered as having consented to participate in the survey. Thank you for your willingness to participate.
