As an insurer participating in the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) Risk Adjustment (RA) program, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) needs your cooperation and participation in its required Initial Validation Audit (IVA). Please provide the following information and select the medical record option most advantageous to your office or facility:

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) mandates that all insurers provide the medical records for those patients selected to be audited in the IVA. Providers and facilities who have seen members who are enrolled in ACA-compliant small group policies, as well as individuals who purchased health care plans on the Health Insurance Marketplace or directly through BCBSIL, could be impacted by this audit. The audit will be performed on a sample of enrollees selected by CMS.

For the 2018 audit, providers will receive a letter from BCBSIL requesting medical records for members on the list attached to the letter. To expedite the submission of the medical records, and via this survey we would like to know how you would prefer to submit the required medical records.
