Eligibility

The International Public Safety Association is seeking a new Secretary.
As an Officer of the International Public Safety Association (a legally binding position), the Secretary has a legal and ethical responsibility to ensure that the organization does the best work possible in pursuit of its goals. The Secretary must support the purpose and the mission of the organization, and shall act responsibly and prudently as its steward.
 
This position requires up to 10 volunteer hours per month. 
 
The Secretary must, at a minimum: 
  • Attend all board meetings. Meetings are remote. If the Secretary cannot attend, the Secretary shall notify the Board Chair and identify a proxy.
  • Send out an agenda and materials at least one week prior to any meeting.
  • Capture, review, and email Board minutes in MS Word within 72 hours following each Board meeting.
  • Provide notice of meetings.
  • See that all notices are duly given in accordance with the provisions of the IPSA’s Bylaws or as required by law.
Minimum qualifications:
  • Per our Bylaws, must be an Active Level Member. 
  • Must be proficient in MS Word.
  • Must have access to internet connection and computer with MS Office capabilities.
  • Must be willing to learn how to use the IPSA's website functions to post meeting materials and information.
  • Must be organized and proactively communicate with the Board and leadership team.
  • Previous experience serving as a Secretary of a non-profit Board of Directors is highly desired.
  • Must be willing to learn the Arizona laws associated with the position.
  • Must be willing to become familiar with the Arizona Corporation's Commissions legal requirements for the organization.
