Overview

Application deadline is March 30.

The Charles Capen Trainee Poster Award, jointly sponsored by the International Academy of Toxicologic Pathology (IATP) and the Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP), honors the legacy of Dr. Charles Capen as a researcher, teacher, and mentor whose career spanned more than four decades.

The award recipient will receive a $750.00 monetary prize to support their continued education and training in the field of toxicologic pathology. In addition, qualified student awardees will receive complimentary STP student membership for the following year. To be eligible for student membership, individuals must be enrolled full-time or part-time in a professional veterinary or medical program, or in a graduate degree, residency, or postdoctoral training program. The recipient will be formally recognized during the Awards and Recognition Ceremony at the STP Annual Symposium.

Applicants must submit a full poster presenting original research related to clinical or experimental toxicologic pathology, with preference given to work focused on metabolic or endocrine disorders. However, high-quality submissions in other areas relevant to toxicologic pathology will also be given fair consideration. Submissions based on published manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, where the applicant is listed as the first author, are especially encouraged.
Eligibility:

Eligible applicants include trainees currently pursuing an academic degree or engaged in a training or residency program in experimental or toxicologic pathology, or a related discipline. This includes veterinary students, pathology residents (veterinary or medical), and MS or PhD candidates. Individuals who have recently completed their graduate studies (within 12 months of the application deadline) are also eligible, provided the research was conducted while enrolled in a qualifying program.

To apply, in addition to submitting a first author poster abstract online for the STP Annual Symposium, please submit the following documents:
    1. Personal Statement
    2. Curriculum Vitae.
    3. Letter of Recommendation from academic advisor
    4. High-quality poster presenting original research related to clinical or experimental toxicologic pathology.
