Introduction
This is the examination for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice, Caltrans classification. This examination requires respondents to answer (70) multiple choice questions and should take an average of 45-60 minutes to complete.
The examination answers cannot be saved for completion at a later time, therefore, the examination must be completed in one session. Please ensure you have at least 60 minutes to complete this process before beginning.
Prior to the examination, you will be asked to self-certify your experience (similar to a STD678) by determining which pattern(s) you meet in qualifying to take this examination. If you do not meet the experience requirements, you will not be able to take this examination.
Applicants for positions in this class are required to pass a drug-screening test. (The drug-screening test will be waived for employees who are currently in a designated "sensitive" class for which drug testing is required under State Personnel Board Rule 213.)
You must certify that the information provided by you (without assistance from others) in this online examination is true and complete to the best of your knowledge. You also understand that if it is discovered that you have made any false representations, or received assistance from others, you will be removed from the examination process, removed from the eligible list resulting from the examination, and may not be allowed to compete in future examinations for State employment.
