Welcome to TASH! Please read completely for important information.
Teen Advocates for Sexual Health (TASH) is a Education based group seeking to center learning sexual health through a lens that is sex positive and identity informed.
This is the required application for Teen Advocates for Sexual Health 2023-2024. Returning members must complete this too!
TASH Mission: To promote and improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of teens. By rights we mean the right to: Information, Education and services, & Bodily Integrity and Privacy. We do so through TASH meetings, a "safe *and* uncomfortable place to learn and grow."
As a TASH member, you will have the opportunity to learn about many sexual health topics (healthy relationships, sexual consent, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, disability, contraceptive methods, STI’s, body image, media literacy, etc.). As advocates, you will be able to participate in community outreach events, attend Lobby Days, and partner with other teams and departments, working towards serving as messengers for sexual health in your own communities. You can even use TASH time as part of your volunteer or community service requirements!
TASH is generally held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 4:30-7pm and the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9 am - 1 pm. Schedule is subject to change, and a detailed schedule will be given at the beginning of the program.
In order to be a part of TASH, you must meet the following FIVE requirements:
1. Be a student in grades 9-12
2. Live in Southwest or Southeast Missouri, or St. Louis metro area (which includes Southwest Illinois!)
3. Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a consent form - we'll email it to the parent/guardian you name in this application
A parent/guardian meeting will be held Wednesday, September 6th 2023, 5:30-6:30pm on Zoom to give caretakers more information about the program.
4. Be able to attend most if not all TASH meetings for the year (usually the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of the month and the 3rd Saturday of the month)
5. Attend the first TASH meeting on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 4:30 p.m.
TASH MEETINGS WILL BE IN PERSON
*Safety Message* We will explore together what meeting in person can look like. Planned Parenthood requires proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 in order to enter the building, which includes the original dose PLUS the first booster shot.
The affiliate will provide transportation support (e.g. metro passes).
