GIRL/FRIENDS LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE APPLICATION
For the first time in three years, applications are now open for A Long Walk Home’s 19th cohort of the Girl/Friends Leadership Institute! With over seven hundred trained artist-activists, the Girl/Friends program has fostered leadership and driven impactful campaigns addressing racial and gender inequality.

This transformative program offers a unique opportunity for youth to:
Program Highlights:
- Develop leadership, artistic, and activist skills
- Earn college credits at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago
- Receive mentorship and peer support
- Access a $2,000 stipend per year (for a 2-year commitment)
- Enjoy travel opportunities
- Participate in a self-care and holistic care program
- Have artwork featured in exhibitions
- Lead youth-led and art-based campaigns

**Eligibility Requirements:** We invite Black girls, gender-expansive youth, and young leaders in grades 7-11 interested in Black feminism, art, and activism to apply. The program focuses on photography, writing, and dance, but all artists are welcome to apply. No prior experience is necessary—bring your passion and strong leadership for change!
